Biographie de Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
Repéré dans une publicité, Jonathan Rhys-Meyer décroche un petit rôle aux côtés d'Albert Finney dans 'Un homme sans importance' en 1994. Deux ans plus tard, Neil Jordan, qui le considère comme le 'nouveau Tom Cruise', le choisit pour incarner l'assassin de Liam Neeson dans 'Michael Collins'. Il apparaît ensuite de manière constante au cinéma, enchaînant des films très différents : 'The Maker' (1997) de Tim Hunter, avec Matthew Modine, où il incarne un adolescent criminel, 'B. Monkey' (1998) et 'Titus' (1999), où il donne respectivement la réplique à Asia Argento et Rupert Everett d'une part, Anthony Hopkins et Jessica Lange d'autre part. Sa performance saluée de rockstar dans 'Velvet goldmine' lui permet de choisir ses films plus librement. Il incarne le petit ami de Keira Knightley dans 'Joue-la comme Beckham' (2002), un succès en Grande-Bretagne, le mari volage de Romola Garai dans 'Vanity fair, la foire aux vanités' (2004) et est salué pour sa performance dans 'Match point' de Woody Allen, dans le rôle d'un homme incapable d'assumer ses choix.
